General

An amorphous metal transformer (AMT) is a type of energy efficient transformer found on electric grids. The magnetic core of this transformer is made with a ferromagnetic amorphous metal. The typical material (Metglas) is an alloy of iron with boron, silicon, and phosphorus in the form of thin (e.g. 25 µm) foils. These materials have high magnetic susceptibility, very low co ercivity and high electrical resistance. The high resistance and thin foils lead to low losses by eddy currents when subjected to alternating magnetic fields. On the downside amorphous alloys have a lower saturation induction and often a higher magnetostriction compared to conventional crystalline iron-silicon electrical steel . An amorphous metal transformer (AMT) is a type of energy efficient transformer found on electric grids.

The main application of FARADY AMTs are the grid distribution transformers rated at about 50-2500 kVA. These transformers typically run 24 hours a day and at a low load factor (average load divided by nominal load). The no load loss of these transforms makes up a significant part of the loss of the whole distribution net.

Service condition

a) Suitable for indoor or outdoor application b)Air temperature: Maximum temperature: +40℃; Minimum temperature:-30℃ c) Humidity: Monthly average humidity 95%; Daily average humidity 90% . d) Altitude above sea level: Maximum installation altitude: 2000m. e)Max wind speed:35M/s f) Ambient air not apparently polluted by corrosive and flammable gas, vapor etc. g) No frequent violent shake

Amorphous alloy core feature

 Amorphous alloy lattice and no boundaries exist, and therefore its Magnetic power is small, and good temperature stability. Since an amorphous Alloy non-oriented material, it can be sewn directly, and can be, regardless of Level, the manufacturing process is relatively simple core.

 Thickness of the amorphous alloy strip of 0.02 ~ 0.03 mm, is 1/10 of Silicon steel, and therefore, eddy current loss is small.

 The hardness of amorphous silicon alloy is five times of silicon steel, so the amorphous core have better strength.

 Amorphous core have a rectangular section, increasing the wire utilization
